K-pop Fan Letters and Gifts: Check Before Sending

Before sending a letter or gift to a K-pop artist, check the artist’s latest official notice. Acceptance depends on the artist, agency, item and event. This guide explains how to verify the rules rather than compiling mailing addresses or promising delivery.

A fan letter, physical gift and organized fan support are different categories. Permission for one does not automatically cover the others.

Letters and gifts differ

Letters: Check whether only handwritten paper in a standard envelope is accepted. A book or parcel containing a message may still be classified as a gift.

Gifts: Look for separate acceptance of objects, limits and restrictions. Fan support: organized gifts or event projects may need prior application and staff approval.

Past policy examples: WINNER announced that, from January 1, 2026, it would accept personal paper fan letters by post but not mailed gifts or the listed material and event support for anniversaries, broadcasts and performances. Individual advertising projects could continue under the existing procedure; this exception does not authorize sending gifts or event supplies. The UNIS February 21, 2025 guidance distinguished certain simple individual gifts from separately approved organized support. These are artist-specific conditions, not universal K-pop rules.

Find the official notice

Search the agency website, official fan community or fan-club notice board for the artist’s complete fan-letter, gift and support notice. Do not rely only on fan-account screenshots or old posts.

Check publication date, revisions, effective period, member coverage and newer follow-up notices. A page that is still visible is not necessarily the current rule.

The TWS fan-letter notice highlights an address change and the need for the correct member name and P.O. box. It is an example of fields to verify, not an address to copy from an old guide.

Permission to send fan letters does not automatically permit gifts; check the current artist notice.

Check the delivery method

Find the expressly allowed route: regular mail, registered mail, courier or handoff to a specified official staff member at an announced event. Organized fan support may require a separate application.

Do not treat company visits, mailbox-service visits, concert entrances, airports, private residences or unofficial schedules as approved handoff points unless the relevant official notice says otherwise.

For example, WINNER specifies mail-only letters, while the UNIS notice describes some official event-staff routes. One artist’s exception is not permission for another.

Verify address and dates

Before mailing, check the exact member or team, department, street address, postal code, P.O. box if any, and required recipient formatting in the latest notice. Never use a private address or an old fan-post address.

Determine whether a deadline means postmarked by or received by. For international mail, allow for uncertain transit time and check tracking. Customs charges or collect-on-delivery fees may prevent acceptance under some notices.

If an essential detail is unclear, use the official inquiry channel listed in the notice before sending; silence is not an automatic permission.

Check contents and packaging

Check envelope size, paper-only requirements, enclosures, quantity, weight and packaging. Categories such as cash equivalents, food, flowers, electronics and bulky books can be restricted, but the exact list depends on the artist’s notice.

Read return, disposal and receipt-confirmation conditions. A carrier status of delivered is not the same as acceptance by an agency, handoff to the artist or a personal reply.

Practical advice, not an official acceptance condition: keep a copy of the letter, verify the address once more, retain tracking information and avoid unnecessary private details.

Frequently asked questions

If letters are accepted, can I send a gift too?

Not automatically. Look for a separate gift policy. WINNER’s notice is an example of letters being permitted while gifts are declined.

Can I reuse an older address?

Only after verifying it against the latest official notice and all updates. Mailboxes and recipient formats can change.

Can I visit the company or hand it over at a concert?

Only if an official notice for that exact event expressly permits a named method. Do not approach private or restricted locations.

Does tracking marked delivered mean the artist received it?

No. Carrier delivery, company acceptance, artist handoff and a reply are four separate stages.

Will the agency confirm receipt or send a reply?

Never assume so. WINNER’s notice, for example, says individual receipt notifications are not provided.

What if a rule or deadline is missing?

Clarify with the official contact stated in the notice before shipping; do not infer permission.
